our story

Small batches, made by hand.

Danielle Lancaster on the beach at sunset

Something Sour is a small-batch sourdough bakery based in Foley, Alabama. Each loaf and baked good is made by hand with care, patience, and a love for good food.

Behind every order is one baker: Danielle Lancaster. There's no storefront and no production line. It's a home kitchen, a jar of sourdough starter, and the time it takes to do it right.

Because it's a one-person operation, Something Sour bakes in small batches with a limited number of pickup spots each week. When a spot fills up, it's marked sold out, so every order gets the attention it deserves.

What goes into a loaf

Made with time. Made with love.

Sourdough is a slow-fermented bread. A classic loaf starts with a few simple things: flour, water, salt, and an active starter, then a long, patient rise before it ever sees the oven.
