the good part

Why sourdough is easier on your gut.

Real sourdough isn't just bread with a tangy taste. It's made with a living starter of wild yeast and friendly bacteria, then left to rise slowly for hours. That long, natural fermentation changes the bread in ways your body can feel.

Every batch gets hours to ferment before it ever sees the oven.
  • Easier to digest

During the slow rise, the starter's bacteria start breaking down starches and some of the gluten before the bread is baked. Many people find sourdough sits lighter than regular store-bought bread.

  • Less bloating for many people

Long fermentation lowers fructans, a type of carb (FODMAP) that commonly causes gas and bloating in sensitive stomachs.

  • Nutrients your body can use

Fermentation reduces phytic acid, which can block your body from absorbing minerals like iron, zinc and magnesium, so more of the good stuff gets through.

  • Gentler on blood sugar

Studies suggest sourdough causes a smaller blood-sugar spike than bread made with commercial yeast.

  • Simple, real ingredients

The classic loaf is just flour, water and salt, plus a living starter. No commercial yeast, no preservatives.

Good to know: baking kills the live cultures, so sourdough isn't a probiotic. Its benefits come from the long fermentation before baking. Sourdough still contains gluten and isn't safe for anyone with celiac disease. This isn't medical advice.
